Throughout a Linear Publishing site you will see Legend Link Icons (or text!). These icons act as links to other information specific to a company, organization or individual. By using these icons, Web visitors can move through a single company's information without involving the rest of the publication's site. So when looking for information about a specific restaurant, visitors might use the search window to find the business - and the Legend Link Icons will take them the rest of the way!

The Legend Links appear with any client record and act as links to that client's other records. Most clients won't have as many links as listed below, but Linear Publishing tries to offer every solution. Best of all, almost all of the client's information can be built and edited by the client. You control their features and permissions.

Account Control

Account Control

Your publication can easily give a particular client any type of link. You can set the default so that all clients receive certain links for free. Most importantly, the system can be configured for the client to purchase any links online at any time. You set the pricing, duration and availability of each item. The system is credit card enabled - or paypal enabled.

Once a User has authenticated their access with a username/password combination you control, they'll have access to friendly controls and on-line help for editing their content on your site.

There are previews at virtually every step so that even the most timid client can manage their experience.

Acquire New Features
shadow

Acquire New Features

Your Linear system can be configured to allow existing clients to add features to their account. You control what features are available, the cost and the duration. Three simple screens allow the users to select , confirm and pay (secure credit card or paypal) for their new features. You can enable the ability for users to request billing, but people are comfortable enough with the internet where the credit card interface is almost expected.

Once the client has successfully completed the transaction, they will have immediate access to the new features.

Keep in mind, features acquired have a duration which means the client will need to renew their access in the future - recurring revenue from your Web site - that's the goal.

Blasts

Blasts are values which can be purchased on your web site and then redeemed with the contact/account for a value greater than the purchase price. Typically, a Blast offers can be used to help a business develop new customers, launch a new product line and increase business during off-hours.

As an example, the contact/account could offer a Blast worth $100 in goods or services at a price of $60. The offer for redemption may be limited to specific hours of the day or days of the week. This helps the business increase customer traffic during off-hours.

While the contact cannot add or edit their blact - only you can do that - you can provide the contact with the link and password so they can monitor purchases.

Blasts are easy to build and launch. Each blast has:
  • Start and Stop Dates.

  • Total Blasts available (no more can be purchased after the total is reached)

  • Maximum Blasts per person

  • Paypal Account for Blast Purchases (the customer's Paypal account or yours)

  • Optional Email notification for Blast Purchases

  • Password for remote Blast purchase reviews

  • Price for a single Blast

  • Optional view tracking for the client

  • Redemption Method (Printed List and/or QR Code Voucher)
Some notable features to our Blast system:
You Name It: We actually had meetings about what to call this portion of Linear. Obviously, in arriving at "Blasts" there was not a lot of agreement. Hence, the first thing you will want to set in your "Blast Defaults" is the system name. This site uses the name "Daily Deals".

Peeking: You can allow web-visitors to see Blasts before they are available for purchase.

Member Early Access: Your defaults can be configured to allow registred members to purchase Blasts before the general public.

Blogs

Blogs

Of course the Linear system offers Blogs, but did you know you can provide discrete blogs to your clients? Sure enough. These blogs are tied to their client information so that whenever you see data for a client (i.e. directory listing, calendar event, etc) there will be a link to their blog.

Your site would have a page which listed all non-Site blogs. And, if a client's blog ever became popular, you can easily designate it to appear with your Site blogs.

These discrete client blogs have all the power of your Site blogs including visual uploading, searching, password protection and multiple author permissions.

Bookmarks & Newsletters

Bookmarks & Newsletters

This powerful tool serves two needs.

First, it allows visitors to bookmark businesses or organizations they frequent. By bookmarking a company, they can quickly gather up-to-date information on these companies to look for bulletins, coupons, contests, etc.

Second, the bookmarked company or organization may send a monthly newsletter to all its subscribers through your site. At the bottom of the e-mail newsletter is a link to your site. A great tool for stores to notify customers of sales, organizations to make announcements and businesses to communicate with their audience.

Clients may not add persons to their bookmarks list, but they can delete recipients. A Web visitor can cancel a bookmark at anytime. Newsletters may only be mailed once per month - unless you apply a different frequency to a particular client.

Bulletins

Bulletins

Bulletins allow the PTA, Garden Club, Businesses and others to post their important, time-sensitive information to your site. Automatic expiration dates turn bulletins off once they've expired.
Imagine the PTA telling all their members to check the web site for meeting locations, election results, etc. They'll use your web site to communicate with their members. Remember, it's still your traffic.

Calendar Events

Calendar Events

Your clients may add their calendar events. Unless you approve them, they do not appear on your publication's community calendars, but only on that client's calendar.

Particular clients can be authorized to have their events immediately added to the Web site calendar without your approval.

Community organizations and businesses can have all their calendar listings for the year easily accessed by your web visitors.

Chat Rooms

Chat Rooms

Clients may have a private chat room. These chat rooms may be password protected or limited to site subscribers with valid user names and passwords. If anyone abuses his privileges, he can be easily barred in the future.

These are different from Site Chat Rooms. They may only be accessed from the client's links.

Contests

Contests

When a client wants to promote a product, service or event through a contest, you now have the perfect tool. The client selects colors, content, restrictions, and expiration dates. They can even list winners.

All contest entries are emailed to the client where they can build their own mailing list from the entries. Clients may not add visuals or internet links to their contests, but you may. The system will turn the contest off at the client's requested expiration date.

Coupons

Coupons

The Linear system features a powerful coupon delivery system. The coupons can be categorized, searched, scheduled and printed. Click here to see on on-site example of some coupon categories.

Clients can easily and often update their coupons (yes, they can have more than one). They choose colors, content, restrictions, and expiration dates.

The system will turn the coupon off at the client's requested expiration date. If you dare, you may insert your own HTML code to over-write a particular coupon's appearance. Coupons can auto-open and/or be replaced entirely with an image. Each coupon includes links to your client's other information
