Development Blog This blog will be used as a vehicle to keep interested parties abreast of changes to the Linear system. Using the RSS feed utility, we hope existing and potential clients will become more knowledgeable about our system. Launched September 21, 2005.
April 29, 2012 | 08:00 PM Linear Publishing has extensive tools and defaults for creating "Headers" for the pages of your site. As you edit your defaults - all the Headers on the site will change.
Headers can also be tied to other Headers. As you change the characteristics (i.e. CSS containers and styles) of the controlling Header, all dependent Headers will change as well.
Now we've added "Auto Headers" and "Auto Header Templates". You don't even need to create the Header anymore. Where applicable (i.e. Directory Categories, Blogs, Site Tags), select "Auto" for the header. The system will build the Header based on your defaults using the title and description of the contextual information. Like all other headers, change your defaults and the Auto headers will change as well.
Auto Template Headers allow you to define one or more CSS headers to be available as templates for Auto Headers. Simply select a template and the Auto Header will be built from the characteristics of the controlling template. Change the template header and all dependent headers change as well.
This approach allows you to make sweeping global changes to your site. Imagine after a year - or a week - you want to change your color scheme of font profile. Just change your Header Defaults and the site has a new look.
Click here for an on-site page where the header "Politics" is created using the Auto header feature.
We have worked with Greg now for about ten years. I expect we'll continue for another ten. When I need help on one of our sites I pick up the phone and call Greg. He fixes it. It is about that simple.
