Management System Enhancements for Elements

Making life easier for our clients

July 27, 2010 | 04:14 PM

Usage Report: As Linear clients design their sites, they can end up with a lot of Elements in their Library. Elements are discrete pieces which can be placed on page layouts. Overtime, these elements may be used and retired on layouts and other portions of the system. New controls will list "Usage" for a particular element detailing which layouts, elements or inclusions use the element in question.

Unused Report: Similar to the the Usage feature listed above, this control will list all Elements which are not in use in the system. Great house-keeping tool for discarding old Elements.

Templates: Call Elements are a staple of Linear Publishing. These dynamic elements pull discrete data from throughout the system. New template controls allow you to base one Call Element on the properties of another. For example, you create a Call Element pulling the Title, Date, Author and Image from the "News" section - looks good. Now, create another Call Element using the first as a template, but select the "Sports" section - all done. The formatting and content structure of the first Call Element are adopted through the template. If you change the original Element all dependent Elements will change as well!

times newspapersWhen we realized we needed to upgrade our Web site, we knew we could not do it alone. Linear Publishing more than answered the call. All the new features we were looking for were already in place at Linear. In addition, if we came up with a feature not yet available, they created it.

We now publish two Web sites a week in less time than it took us to publish one. The free time has opened me up to explore new ideas and features to use on our site. It's a great feeling when you can get an idea and in no time have it up and running online. Thanks to it's ease of use, our Web site is getting better and better every day.

We are always getting compliments from our readers and advertisers. With help from Linear Publishing, we are becoming the e-voice of the community that we were striving for.
