Our most demanding clients use the page layout feature (see Custom Page Layouts) constantly - they know what they want and they get it.
The page layout feature allows you to place elements anywhere on the page. Till now there were 7 classes of elements (ads, inclusions, dividers, raw, editorial, combo and header). We've added an 8th, Call Elements, and they are powerful.
Essentially, Call Elements dynamically retrieve other information from your Linear system. The information is retrieved in bits where each bit can be stylized and linked.
So, you might create a Call Element retrieving the 4 most recent calendar events. From each of the calendar events you pull bits of information:
This pulled the 4 most recent events. Other delimiters might include a particular calendar category, featured events, most popular events and more. Best of all, the Call Element is entirely dynamic. When a calendar event is added (and approved) it appears atop the list.
- Title, define its text properties and link it to the event listing.
- Beginning Date, define it's text properties
- Ending Date (if applicable), define it's text properties
- Visual (if applicable), define size, alignment, border, shadows
- Description (if applicable), define it's text properties, get the first 150 characters
Other notable data bits which can be pulled into a Call Element (where applicable) include:
From which portions of the Linear system can Call Elements be created? We really handcuffed you here, the following systems are available to Call Elements:
- Author picture
- Member name
- Member picture
- Sections and categories
- Entry Date

Call Elements are entirely CSS compatible allowing you to control the appearance of the entire Element, each Item within the Elements and each Bit within the Items.
- Editorial Lists
- Flash Video
- Photo Galleries
- Real Estate Listings
- Member articles
- Member photos
- Youtube videos

We have worked with Greg now for about ten years. I expect we'll continue for another ten. When I need help on one of our sites I pick up the phone and call Greg. He fixes it. It is about that simple.
