Unlike Cool Letters, the Linear Newsletter feature is primarily an "opt-in" system where Web visitors can review your available newsletters, submit their email address to begin receiving selected letters. As an "opt-in" system, recipients can "opt-out" of a newsletter at any time.

With Newsletters there is a three step process in preparing the system:

Stationary: You'll need to design one or more pieces of stationary to be used with the Newsletters. Each piece os Stationary can have it's own visuals and color scheme.

Create Newsletters: After preparing some Stationary, you'll begin to define your Newsletters. Each Newsletter is sent on a piece of Stationary. Usually, the content of a Newsletter will be automatically generated from your Editorial System (i.e. "Top Sports Stories" or "Front Page Headlines"), but you are welcome to compose the contents of a Newsletter manually.

Send Newsletters: On a routine basis, you'll want to send your Newsletters. Wether prior to changing your issue date - or when breaking news occurs - just pull up the selected Newsletter and click the "Send" button. its really easy.

When defining the newsletters content, you'll be able to select which Editorial Sections from which to draw content. When Newsletters are automatically generated from your Editorial System, the listed items will always be linked to the corresponding story on your site.

When new users sign up for the site, they'll see the available Text Alerts and newsletters listed for their selection. Once they have established an account, when they log in they can edit the text alert and newsletter preferences.

Note: This page features a small right inset allowing users to sign-up for newsletters from this page. Simply enter the mail address, select one or more newsletters and you are done. The system will send a verification email confirming the request - but it's really easy.

corydonI've had a great experience with Linear Publishing. The system was easy to learn, and Greg and his staff are always available to answer any questions I may have.

Our readers are apparently liking the results, too, because our visits to the web site have tripled this year.
