Linear Publishing feels your greatest Internet revenue potential is with your traditional print advertiser. For example, let us give your traditional advertiser a full-functioning Web site on your site with the following features and prices:

Seem like a lot? You set the pricing, but this seems reasonable. If clients have someone design a comparable site, they will spend $2,500 up-front, another $100 per month updating the site, and they will still need to come to you and buy a link. Bottom line: Linear Publishing pays for itself.

Most of your clients won't need all the features your publication will offer. They will simply want a way to tell their story and reach your audience on the Internet. Let's see what their basic cost might be:

For your day-to-day advertiser, it is an acceptable investment to make their information available on the Internet. Keep in mind, the most important feature you are selling is location -- You are putting their information where it will be found.

Recurring Revenue. Best of all, this is recurring revenue for your publication. Your client will need to renew these features each year. All the while, he is sending his customers to your site to get his information. Our attached financial model assumes a 90% renewal rate for these customers.

Additional Revenue. You will find that building clients' Web sites is a lucrative business. It is nice to say they can upload their own visuals, but you are in the business of building their ads - so why not bring those artistic and computer skills to bear on their Web pages? Charge a client $50 to build a Web page and $40 for a form he can update at his leisure. Keep in mind, he is sending his customers to your site to get his information.

Linear Publishing creates recurring revenue over time. As customers use your Web site for their marketing messages, they must renew their status each year.

Collateral Revenue. Initially, you will find that sales people will give clients' Internet records as value added for print advertising. Do you care? The incremental cost to you is $0 and the client sends customers to your site for his information. By all means, get a $1,000 display ad contract signed using the Internet as a value-added component. Remember the client still needs to renew records every 12 months. And when a client goes to your site to update his coupon or Web page, he will see all the other features he could add to his Internet exposure. Our attached financial model assumes that one of each Linear Publishing feature is given away each month for like value in your print publication.

Traditional Revenue. You can still nickel and dime the Internet by providing links to sites that pay you for traffic. You can still sell banner and tombstone ads to the 10% of your clients who have developed Web sites outside your system. Our attached financial model assumes a flat pricing for banner and tombstone ads that does not vary. We have not assumed any link revenue, because this form of Internet income is achievable in any Web solution and is usually minimal.

Each advertiser has different needs on the Internet. Linear Publishing allows many forms of revenue.
The Internet will be many things to many people. For the publishing industry, the Internet is another competitor for your advertisers' marketing dollars. Linear Publishing will let you claim those dollars while solidifying the relationships you have with your print advertisers.

quotes
SMDP"After years of subpar online publishing services, we discovered the answer to everything we were looking for in Linear Publishing. Linear is so easy to use and so quick to respond that our site was up in no time. Their online manual is invaluable but their staff is also extremely responsive. They have so many features that we may never use but they are there if and when we want to use them. Most recently, we created our mobile site. Within an hour it was up and running. Linear far exceeds their competition and our expectations."
