Data Export

Linear offers a variety of exporting formats for exporting calendar events, directory listings and movies. You can customize and save multiple export settings. Using style sheets and templates you have the ability to customize and define your configuration settings. The primary purpose for exporting is to retrieve your data for the print publication. Export Configurations allow you to define the data and style sheets to be used when exporting. For example, you might have one export configuration when exporting Ongoing Calendar events and another configuration when exporting Calendar events sorted by Venue.

Exporting Calendar records is a fast and easy way to convert your Internet calendar data to Quark style sheets for inclusion in your print publication. Only the events posted to your public web site will be exported. Once you save your export Settings, the system will return a link allowing your to open the Export Results and save them for importation into your publication system. Sometimes it is helpful to save your Export Settings for future use. This is especially important for Linear clients who export their Calendar information in a variety of formats. You can sort by the date, by the category or by the title. When "Date" is chosen, your calendar will be exported with a header for each date and the events will be sorted by title below the date. You can select "subcategory and your calendar will be exported with a header for each category and the events will be sorted by title below the category. You can export using standard calendar events, ongoing calendar information or calendar events sorted by venue. You can also define a number of categories and styles to be added to the standard version in order to create a more personalized export setting.

Exporting Movie data records is a fast and easy way to convert your Internet Movie information data to style sheets for inclusion in your print publication. Exporting directories is especially useful to publications which routinely include this type of information in their print product. For example, a publication could ask advertisers to check and correct their directory listings on the web site for inclusion in the print product. When exported, the directory will include Quark style sheet information so that it literally moves from the Internet to the print product in about one minute!

Quotes
smiley pete"Linear publishing has provided a turnkey solution for Mile High Newspapers that far exceeds anything that we could have accomplished on our own. While the capabilities of the system are impressive, what I have found most useful is Linear's willingness to implement new features and its ability to support the ones it has. The Linear system has so many features, that one newspaper will never use them all. I have looked at other newspaper content management systems, but have yet to find one that matches Linear's price, tech support and feature set."
