PDA Interface

loading.page
Much of your Linear Web site has been configured to be accessible through handheld personal computers (often called PDAs - Personal Data Assistants). You may choose to enable this feature - or not.

Keep in mind this is a new and quickly developing type of Web interface. Even though you may not use a PDA to access the Internet - your audience may. We encourage you to treat the PDA interface seriously via active management and promotion.

With your PDA Defaults, you can define which features you would like available through this minimalized interface - and how those features will be presented. The PDA Web interface can be set to be entirely subscriber based.

PDA interfaces have been established for:
  • Editorial
  • Letters to the Editor
  • Classifieds
  • Lists
  • Directories
  • Obituaries
  • Blogs
  • Coupons
  • Members
  • Podcasts
  • You Tubes
  • Comments
  • Page Layouts
  • Call Elements
  • Photo Galleries
  • Calendar

The Web address for your Linear PDA "sister" site is http://www.yoursite.com/mobile. Most of the PDA interface can also be searched similar to your Web site.

The example link below will link to the Linear Publishing corporate site. There, you can compare the sample "News" editorial section to the one shown on our corporate site.

Quotes
smiley pete"Linear publishing has provided a turnkey solution for Mile High Newspapers that far exceeds anything that we could have accomplished on our own. While the capabilities of the system are impressive, what I have found most useful is Linear's willingness to implement new features and its ability to support the ones it has. The Linear system has so many features, that one newspaper will never use them all. I have looked at other newspaper content management systems, but have yet to find one that matches Linear's price, tech support and feature set."
