With an individual editorial item in the Linear system there are over 250 controls (most you'll never touch) for customizing the presentation on your Web site. With routine editorial, your default settings will do all the work... but what about the exceptions? Templates are the answer.
Templates are saved settings which can be recalled when adding editorial. Where templates do not define values, the system will reert to your default settings. This is ideal for recurring editorial with special configurations such as covers, columnists and more.
As templates are added and published, links will appear on your Editorial Mgmt > Editorial screen to create new editorial using the template.
For example, you want to put your cover on the site with each issue, but you want it centered, without text and without a link. Normally, you would have to add the editorial item and then remember to access the configuration settings. By using a template where the configurations are predefined the system will do the heavy lifting.
