Special Issues

(click for larger version)
Typical Linear clients use Issue dates to group editorial items for presentation on the Web site and in the archives. Although individual editorial items can span issue dates, what about publications, supplements or other items which may not fall into a regular issue? No problem, Linear provides the ability to add "Special Issues".

These Special Issues act very mush as a normal issue with a few exceptions:
  • Special Issues do not appear in the archives.

  • Special Issues have link controls which make it easy to create menu items and ads which link directly to the issue.

  • Special Issues have no Date information associated with the individual editorial items

This is a great tool for seasonal or annual supplements. You can create the Special Issue and leave it on your Web site for an extended duration. Combine the Special Issue with a "Pic Paper" presentation (see Pic Paper) and you have the best of both worlds.

Special Issues can have custom present pages, custom ads and custom layouts - just about anything you need to deliver your vision. Of course, the content of a Special Issue is fully searchable along with all the active editorial on your site.

Welcome to Indianapolis is an example of a Special Issue.

times newspapersWhen we realized we needed to upgrade our Web site, we knew we could not do it alone. Linear Publishing more than answered the call. All the new features we were looking for were already in place at Linear. In addition, if we came up with a feature not yet available, they created it.

We now publish two Web sites a week in less time than it took us to publish one. The free time has opened me up to explore new ideas and features to use on our site. It's a great feeling when you can get an idea and in no time have it up and running online. Thanks to it's ease of use, our Web site is getting better and better every day.

We are always getting compliments from our readers and advertisers. With help from Linear Publishing, we are becoming the e-voice of the community that we were striving for.
