Fly Tables are predefined formats which can be called with Editorial Items, Site Call Pages and Standard Inclusions. These formats, when invoked, will look for table information within your document and convert it to an Internet friendly appearance.

Often, you'll have data from Quark, Excel or some other program which shows data in rows and columns. When you copy this data into Linear, the tab characters are preserved, but they have no affect when displayed on the Internet. Using Fly Tables, you can tell the system to look for information separated by the "Tab" character and thus convert them into an Internet friendly table format.

In your program (Excel, Word, Quark, etc), the data looks something like this:

Fruit
Color
Qty
Cost
Apple
Red
5
$.25
Orange
Orange
12
$.47
Banana
Yellow
32
$.64

When you paste it onto the Internet, the data will look like this:

Fruit Color Qty Cost
Apple Red 5 $.25
Orange Orange 12 $.47
Banana Yellow 32 $.64

With Fly Tables, within the body of the item, you simply paste your table data with some tags identifying the start and end to the table - like so:

<!-- TableStart -->
Fruit Color Qty Cost
Apple Red 5 $.25
Orange Orange 12 $.47
Banana Yellow 32 $.64
<!-- TableEnd -->

The Linear system will see the <!-- TableStart --> tag and begin applying the Fly Table Defaults. once the system sees the <!-- TableEnd --> tag it will close the table.

In your defaults you may customize the colors, tabs, fonts and much more to make each table unique with a professional appearance. The table will format itself to your preferences however you have it set up.

Quotes
smiley peteFor a small publishing company, with large amounts of content, wanting to make an impressive charge into cyberspace, without prior web-publishing experience, Linear Publishing delivered everything we needed, and even options we didn't know existed, in a quick and effective manner.

Linear's staff worked with us to make sure we had the site we wanted, and the software provided is easy and vast for continuous changes and improvements.

Within a month of launching, the results have already gone well beyond hopes and expectations. I recommend Linear Publishing as far as somebody is allowed to make a recommendation.
